Day 1

So here is my first post.

I figured I'd start by introducing myself.... I'm a musician, athlete, professional student and I work in retail. Where I'm headed exactly right now I'm not really sure. I have too many interests. Over the past few years I've flip-flopped through programs deciding what my degree will be (graduation in 1.5-2 years! Yay!).. its been tough. I've switched from performance to a general degree and now back to performance again.

I play upright bass and sing. Singing is relatively new to me in terms of studying. I consider myself first and foremost a bass player and would like to keep it that way... not that I have anything against vocalists at all. I just love my bass and the feeling I get when playing it. We become one instrument, not player and instrument. As any musician will understand though with intense performance can come physical pitfalls.

I've been struggling with tendinitis on and off for almost 6 years now because of playing. It kind of sucks but you work your way around things.. thats where singing comes in for me. Its my backup plan for the next little while until I can get back on the bass playing wagon in full force.

On another note, I'm getting ready for my first triathlon coming up in less than 10 days now. I'm a little nervous and freaking out a bit but I think it'll be fun. I've heard its crazy addictive and I'm already starting to catch the bug now just from all the training. Because its my first race I don't really have a time to beat so I'm just hoping to finish with a decent time. We'll see how things go.
